One almost finished mitten.
Pattern: The cover pattern from Charlene Schurch's book Knit Marvelous Mittens.
Yarn: Cleckheaton Country 8 Ply, a DK weight superwash wool. One skein Tapestry (their variegated line), and 1 skein black.
Modifications: Mittens sized for a woman's medium are always too long for me. I just chopped off the end of the mitten pattern (and so did this album thumbnail! Click on the thumbnail to see the larger picture and the entire mitten). I am going to go back and finish it differently.
Started and completed Oct. 2005
Pattern: Chill Chasers set from Knitting Pattern a Day 2005 Calendar
Modifications to the pattern: I cast on 3 stitches on the body of the mitten after slipping the thumb gore stitches to a stitch holder.
Yarn: Brown Sheep Handpaint Originals in Mineral Green. One and half skeins for a woman's small.
Knit in just a couple of days, using the Elegant Mohair mittens pattern from Jan.29-30 of the Knitting Pattern a Day 2005 box calendar. I combined some leftovers -- Impressions space-dyed mohair and Cascade 220, to get 3 st/inch. It uses what the mitten books call a peasant thumb.
This is the corrected chart for the Fleur-de-lis mitten in Robin Hansen's book Knit Mittens!. Click on the image for the full size chart.
The mittens on the left are toddler-sized mittens, made from Plymouth/Cleckheaton Tapestry, a DK-weight superwash wool. The pattern: Interweave Knits Grand Plan Mittens chart from the Fall 2000 issue. The mittens on the right are the Fleur-de-lis pattern from Robin Hansen's Knit Mittens! book. I used Lamb's Pride Worsted in Dynamite Blue, Periwinkle, Brite Blue and Wild Violet. Both pairs started and complete in November 2005.
Pattern: Elegant Mohair/Wool Mittens by Anne Maillette. Published as the January 29 & 30 pattern from the 2005 Knitting Pattern a Day calendar.
Yarn: Patons Impressions Handdyed Mohair held together with one strand of heavy worsted yarn. The rose-colored ones: Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride in Dusty Rose. The turquoise ones: Wisdom Yarns Poems.
Needle: Size #9 Crystal Palace circulars
